A career as a Senior estate planner at National Bank Financial Wealth Management (NBFWM) means acting as a trusted expert in estate planning for high‑net‑worth clients and investment advisors. This role allows you to have a meaningful impact on complex personal, family, and business situations thanks to your deep knowledge of estate law, your consulting mindset, and your ability to translate complex concepts into practical and tailored solutions.

You quickly become a key reference for advisors and clients, supporting them through important life events while contributing to the continuous evolution of estate planning practices within the organization.

Your role

• Act as a subject matter expert in estate planning by supporting investment advisors and their clients with complex estate and succession needs
• Conduct in‑depth client interviews to understand objectives, family dynamics, and constraints, and develop customized estate planning strategies
• Draft clear, structured, and compliant estate planning reports adapted to high‑net‑worth client situations
• Collaborate closely with internal partners and external professionals to ensure an integrated approach to estate, tax, trust, and wealth planning
• Deliver training sessions and provide ongoing guidance to investment advisors to strengthen their estate planning knowledge and practices
• Contribute to the development of new solutions, tools, and processes by identifying opportunities for continuous improvement and business development

National Bank Financial Wealth Management brings together specialized professionals who work in an agile, proactive, and collaborative way to support advisors and clients across the country.

Within the Estate Planning department, you are part of a specialized team of professionals based primarily in Alberta and report to a senior leader within Wealth Management. The team stands out for its high level of expertise, strong collaboration, and commitment to delivering pragmatic, value‑added solutions for clients and advisors.

Requirements

• Hold a bachelor’s degree in law and be a member in good standing of the Alberta Bar Association, with at least ten years of relevant experience
• Demonstrate strong expertise in estate planning, including succession law, trusts, and the administration of property of others
• Have significant experience in an expert or consulting advisory role with high‑net‑worth clients
• Possess solid professional experience working with multidisciplinary partners in wealth management, taxation, and financial planning
• Show proven ability to structure, analyze, and synthesize complex legal and estate concepts into practical recommendations
