As a Chief Advisor in the Governance and Credit Quality team at National Bank, you will specialize in governance best practices, contributing to the Bank's healthy growth and financial strength by minimizing credit and regulatory risks. In this position, you’ll have a positive impact with your expertise in maintaining and improving our governance framework and ensuring alignment with regulatory standards as the risk manager for credit sectors.

Your role

• Collaborate with senior management to centralize and review regulatory requests for information and self-assessments to ensure clear and compliant communications

• Proactively compare and analyze the Bank's business and credit risk policies and practices to anticipate gaps and recommend actions aligned with best practices

• Organize and lead committees related to credit risk, governance and regulations by ensuring to follow up on decisions and provide rigorous documentation

• Establish strategic monitoring of action plans and recommendations, and make sure they are implemented effectively in collaboration with stakeholders

• Foster a healthy risk culture by clarifying employee roles and obligations, and aligning internal approaches in risk management

• Handle sensitive information with integrity, ethics and discretion

Your team

As part of the Credit Analytics and Climate Risks Vice Presidency, you will work on a team with 30 colleagues and report to the Senior Manager, Governance and Credit Quality. Our team stands out for its ambition to advance governance practices that protect the Bank's integrity and ensure compliance with regulatory expectations.

You will work closely with the entire credit risk sector, including the following four Vice Presidencies: Special Loans Unit; Credit Adjudication – Credit Capital Markets and National Client Groups; Credit Adjudication – Commercial, SME and Wealth Management; Credit Analytics and Climate Risks.

Prerequisites

• Proven experience in credit risk management and governance, with in-depth knowledge of regulatory requirements (OSFI, Basel, etc.)

• Knowledge of commercial and retail credit, policies and underwriting, advanced risk rating quantification, and loan management practices

• Strong analytical skills with a rigorous approach to solving complex problems

• Solid organizational, leadership and project management skills, with the ability to innovate and influence

• Agility and proactivity

• Outstanding ability to articulate complex concepts clearly and persuasively across all levels of management, in both French and English

Reason to require this language: you will need to collaborate with a regulator/authority/government body outside Quebec.
