A career as an Advisor in the Trade Finance Expertise Desk  at National Bank means serving as an international trade finance  specialist. This position allows you to have a positive impact on our organisation thanks to your advisory expertise, experience in international trade and knowledge of international banking practices.

Your job

  • Provide accessible advisory services reliable and adapted to the needs of clients and internal partners
  • Prepare drafts of guarantees and standby letters of credit
  • Participate in calls with legal advisors to structure and   draft texts
  • Index  the security in Trade360 and submit the applications to Export Development Canada
  • Communicate with Account Managers to obtain credit approvals
  • Optimize processes to ensure an exceptional client experience and rigorous risk management
  • Act as a coach to your less experienced colleagues

Your team

You are part of a large team of 12 colleagues in the  International Trade Finance Expertise Desk sector and will report to the Senior Manager of the Guarantee and Standby Letters of Credit Department under the supervision of the Senior Manager, Trade Finance Expertise Desk. We work in an agile manner. proactive and collaborative to seize opportunities, stay on the cutting edge of technology and continuously improve processes.

Prerequisites

  • A bachelor’s degree in a field related to the field and four years of relevant experience OR a master’s degree and two years of relevant experience
  • CSDG (Certified Specialist in demand guarantees) or CDCS (Certified documentary Credit Specialist) certification an asset
  • Proficiency in the rules and practices of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC – UCP600, ISP98, URDG 758)
  • Advisory experience in international trade
  • Drafting experience (contracts, notices, research) 
  •  Knowledge of Trade360  platform, an asset
Languages:
English, French
Reason to require this language: you will need to serve clients who speak a language other than French regularly.
