As a Corporate Banking Associate in the Québec team at National Bank, you will provide specialized support within the team for analyzing and structuring complex corporate credit files, including both new financing and renewals with significant changes in conditions. You will also be responsible for carrying out various complex analyses and financial data interpretation in order to provide the information needed to make corporate credit decisions.

Your Job

Support senior members of the team on a variety of risk management and credit-based financing related activities

  • Provide financial and industry analysis as directed by the more senior members of the product/coverage teams
  • Preparation of credit underwriting materials for use in internal credit adjudication
  • Participate in internal meetings on a variety of matters, and in external client meetings and pitches as appropriate
  • Work within a credit capital markets team environment that includes interaction with colleagues in banking, syndications, capital markets, and risk management 
Although the emphasis is placed on analysis, financial modeling and written presentations, candidates must also show the ability to interact effectively with clients, colleagues, and other advisors.

Your Team

This position reports to the Managing Director and Head, Québec, Credit Capital Markets, based in Montreal. The team consists of four senior relationship managers, two vice-presidents, two associates and two analysts. Our team stands out for its leading market share in Québec, strong client relationships and agility. We work closely across the other sectors of the bank, including investment banking, M&A, derivatives, and debt capital markets.

Basic Requirements

  • Undergraduate degree in finance, business, or related disciplines
  • At least 3 years of related banking, capital markets or client advisory experience
  • Superior analytical abilities, knowledge in financial modelling and comprehension of accounting concepts
  • Demonstrated problem-solving mindset, collaborative approach and great team spirit
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build meaningful relationships
