As a Director or Managing Director, Diversified Industries Group, Global Credit Markets within National Bank Capital Markets, you will play a lead role in the origination, structuring, and execution of complex credit solutions for corporate and financial sponsors. Based in Toronto, you will act as a key relationship lead and trusted advisor, leveraging the Bank’s balance sheet and product platform to deliver innovative financing solutions while supporting the disciplined growth of the firm.

You will work to contribute across the full credit lifecycle from idea generation to execution and ongoing portfolio management.


Your Job
  • Develop, manage, and deepen senior level client relationships, acting as a primary point of contact on credit matters
  • Collaborate with internal partners to cross sell the broader Capital Markets platform
  • Originate, structure, and execute a wide range of existing and new credit transactions, including bilateral and syndicated loans, investment grade and leveraged financings
  • Actively deploy the Bank’s balance sheet to support client growth while ensuring strong alignment with risk appetite, credit policies, and underwriting standards
  • Provide leadership, coaching, and mentorship to junior professionals, supporting their technical development and career progression
  • Contribute to portfolio oversight by monitoring credit performance, identifying emerging risks, and proactively managing exposures
  • This position is an onsite role, with the expectation that you will work five days a week in the office, with periodic travel for business

Your Team

You will join the Global Credit Markets team within National Bank Capital Markets in Toronto, a core hub for the Bank’s credit, financing, and client coverage activities. This position reports to the Managing Director and Head of Diversified Industries, Global Credit Markets. The team prides itself on growth and agility. You will work in close partnership with the Investment Banking, Debt Capital Markets, Equity Capital Markets, and Risk Management groups to deliver integrated, client centric solutions and in support of National Bank’s long term growth objectives.


Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting or MBA. CFA or CPA is preferred.
  • 7+ years of extensive experience in corporate banking, and/or leveraged finance, or a combination with investment banking, with a record of increasing responsibility
  • Highly driven leader with high energy and a growth mindset, confident to pitch ideas to C-suite clients
  • Track record of working in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities
  • Proven expertise in credit analysis, structuring, underwriting, and execution of complex financing transactions
  • Demonstrated ability to originate business and manage senior client relationships (with expectations scaled to Director vs. Managing Director level)
  • Collaboration and working seamlessly with the team is key
  • Excellent oral and written communication, presentation and negotiation skills
  • Strong understanding of financial statements, capital structures, and market dynamics
