As a Cobol programmer analyst in National Bank’s Personal Financing team, you’ll act as an IT expert in a dynamic and evolving environment. This role gives you the opportunity to have a positive impact on our organization through your programming and analysis skills and your mainframe experience in the banking industry.

Your role

Provide professional support to the sectors and develop or modify software programs in line with users’ needs and specifications, business requirements and established timelines
Understand business issues and identify IT needs in collaboration with users
Perform reliable, efficient programming by ensuring the performance and quality of the systems structure
Participate in various testing phases throughout the development cycle
Draw up validation and quality control procedures based on established development standards and norms and perform extensive testing to ensure that any systems developed or modified are adequate
Analyze system change requests, assess their impact on existing applications, and suggest and carry out appropriate changes
Provide technical support to respond to user requests and problems affecting existing applications and make any necessary corrections
More specifically, you will:
Participate in various project activities in Agile mode
Participate in analyzing and executing change requests and estimates for application maintenance requests
Update technical and functional documentation
Participate in resolving client and application support requests
Support our applications to maintain our level of service
Update our work methods to be more Agile and improve our efficiency
Help us develop our standards and norms for development and technical documentation

Your team

Within the Personal Financing sector, you’ll be part of a large team of 18 people (3 squads), including analysts, programmers and testers, and you will report to the Senior Manager. Our team stands out for its extensive mainframe experience and strong team spirit. We are in the process of modernizing our tools (code editor, version control, copilot) and our work methods.

We use on-the-job learning to help you master your role. Personalized training content on various technical topics is also available to support your ongoing learning. You’ll also have access to colleagues with a wide range of expertise, experience and backgrounds to enrich all aspects of your development.

Prerequisites

Have completed a three-year college diploma or academic equivalent in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience in Cobol/DB2/IMS on the Mainframe
Knowledge of Mainframe COBOL, IMS/DB2, Telon, Easytrieve, IBM 390
Knowledge of the MVS/ESA and Windows operating systems
Knowledge of the development tools File-Aid, Xpediter, Endevor , Spufi, Visual Studio Code, SonarQube and GIT/GITHub
Experience in the banking or financial services industry, an asset

Languages:

Reason to require this language: you will need to carry out regularly tasks that require the use of IT apps and tools unavailable in French.
