A career as a Senior Advisor, Insurance and Risk Management within the Insurance team at National Bank means acting as a trusted expert at the heart of strategic decision-making related to insurance products and risk oversight.

This newly created role allows you to have a direct impact on the sector’s sustainable growth, the quality of offerings, and the compliance of practices, leveraging your expertise in insurance, regulation, risk analysis, and the management of complex initiatives within a highly regulated environment.

Your role

• Act as a subject matter expert in insurance and risk management, advising internal teams to guide decisions related to products, customer journeys, operational processes, and the client experience.

• Analyze business needs, identify issues and pain points, and recommend concrete solutions related to insurance products, pricing, underwriting, distribution, and claims, with a focus on performance, compliance, and client satisfaction.

• Assess financial and non-financial risks associated with insurance products and the assets supporting the insurer’s activities, including return objectives, concentration limits, liquidity requirements, and asset-liability matching and investment mechanisms.

• Design, enhance, and continuously improve insurance products, including drafting, validating, and updating reference documentation, as well as coordinating internal and external approval processes.

• Lead multiple development and continuous improvement projects and initiatives in parallel, ensure adherence to timelines and governance requirements, and communicate progress, issues, and recommendations to stakeholders.

• Conduct proactive monitoring of market trends, industry practices, and applicable regulations to adapt the offering, maintain an effective control framework, and contribute to the quality of data, performance indicators, and sector documentation.

• Analyze financial and non-financial risks and assess selected financial products used in the management of the insurer’s assets. Evaluate the objectives and performance of the AVNB asset-liability management and investment team.

• Review portfolio manager reporting, asset classes, concentration limits, required liquidity, and related elements.

Your team

Within the Insurance sector, you will be part of a team of six professionals specializing in compliance and risk management, reporting to the Head of Compliance and Risk Management. The team’s mandate is diverse and focuses on supporting the profitable growth of the Insurance sector, optimizing offerings and client journeys, and contributing to the oversight of operational and commercial risks.

Our personalized training programs, based on learning through action, allow you to deepen your expertise and develop new areas of specialization. Tools such as the Data Academy, language training, the Harvard Learning Center, and coaching and mentoring support are available to you at all times.

Prerequisites

• Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, including significant experience in insurance.

• In-depth knowledge of risk management applied to insurance products (life, credit, group, annuities, or property and casualty, depending on the sector) and related processes, including underwriting, servicing, and claims.

• Demonstrated expertise in regulatory and financial frameworks applicable to insurers and the distribution of insurance products.

• Proven experience analyzing complex situations and developing structured recommendations to support business decisions and risk management.

• Excellent communication and influencing skills, enabling effective collaboration with diverse stakeholders.
