As part of initiatives to promote inclusion and equity, we strongly encourage people who identify as Indigenous to apply to work at National Bank.

“Indigenous People" is a collective name for the original peoples of North America and their descendants. This includes First Nations, Métis, and Inuit.

Indigenous Peoples are the original caretakers of these lands and waters. Their knowledge, leadership, and perspectives are essential to building respectful partnerships and creating long-term opportunities for communities.

National Bank is committed to strengthening relationships with Indigenous communities across the country. This role is an opportunity to contribute to that work by building connections, listening to community priorities, and helping foster partnerships grounded in respect and trust.

*** We are open to receiving applications from various locations Quebec.

About the Role

Working as part of the Indigenous Relations team and reporting to the Managing Director, the Indigenous Relations Representative will focus on building and maintaining positive relationships with Indigenous communities across a designated region of Canada.

This role is rooted in relationship-building. It involves connecting with community leadership and staff, learning about community priorities, and sharing insights internally to help the Bank better understand opportunities for partnership.

Another important part of the role is sharing examples of successful partnerships with other Indigenous communities, helping support collaboration and the exchange of ideas.

Key Responsibilities

In this role, you will:

  • Build and maintain respectful relationships with First Nations, Métis, and Inuit communities within your assigned region
  • Connect with community staff and elected leadership to better understand their priorities, goals, and economic interests
  • Travel to communities and attend meetings, gatherings, and events as appropriate
  • Lead presentations and information sessions about National Bank’s services and opportunities
  • Listen to community needs and share those insights with the Managing Director
  • Share examples of successful partnerships between National Bank and other Indigenous communities where appropriate
  • Work with the Managing Director to establish annual goals and priorities
  • Take time to learn about the history, culture, and governance structures of the communities you work with

Work Environment

This is a full-time position. Work may be completed remotely or from a National Bank office where available.

The role includes approximately 50% travel throughout the region to spend time in communities and build relationships. Access to an airport is therefore important.

Your Team

You will be part of a growing Indigenous Relations team and will work closely with the Managing Director, the Indigenous Outreach Manager, and other team members who are committed to building meaningful partnerships with Indigenous communities across Canada.

Training and Development

National Bank will provide training to help you gain a strong understanding of the Bank’s products, services, and priorities. Ongoing updates and support will be provided by the Managing Director and the Indigenous Outreach Manager as the Bank’s programs and initiatives evolve.

What We’re Looking For

We welcome candidates who bring a combination of education, experience, and community knowledge.

You may have:

  • A university diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Experience or knowledge related to finance, economic development, or community development
  • Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to develop trust over time
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience presenting to groups, committees, or leadership tables
  • Knowledge of Indigenous communities, cultures, and governance structures within your region
