A career as a Senior Credit Manager in the credit risk team at National Bank means being a specialist and coach for credit approvals within the commercial sector. You will be called upon to play an important role as an expert in the development of the Ontario and Western Canadian market. This position allows you to leverage your expertise and influential leadership to have a positive impact on our organization’s growth.

Your job

  • Analyze, authorize and/or recommend decisions on complex credits.
  • Act as an expert in the management and monitoring of the commercial financing portfolio among colleagues and business lines.
  • To propose a global offer adapted to the needs of our customers in synergy with the business line.
  • Initiate and take charge of complex mandates in a personalized and structured manner as the head of the risk function.
  • Lead the drafting and/or review of new risk policies and financing envelopes with various stakeholders and present them to the Bank's management in order to promote business growth.
  • Participate in the creation of innovative solutions to optimize the efficiency of processes and systems.
  • Maintain effective communications and relationships with other Bank departments.
  • Act as a "coach" with business lines to support business development efforts.
  • Maintain a relationship of trust with the executives in charge of the business line in the markets served.

Your team

You will be part of a team of around fifty colleagues specializing in several segments and different industries in the commercial credit sector. You will work with the Vice-President of Credit to support sound risk management in a strategic development area for the Bank. Our team stands out for its level of expertise, agility, teamwork and support for the Bank's growth.

Prerequisite

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and 7 years of relevant experience, or Master's degree in a related field and 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Accounting designation or CFA, an asset.
  • Experience in business development.
  • Experience in complex commercial credit financing.
  • Ability to analyze and synthesize information.
  • Experience in portfolio monitoring.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
Preferred skills:
  • Ability to work in a team.
  • Ability to influence leaders.
  • Be recognized for team leadership, business acumen and have been involved in the implementation of large-scale credit initiatives and/or special mandates.
  • Demonstrate empathy, active listening, authenticity, and leadership at all times during exchanges, while being a proactive agent of change.
  • Knowledge of French, an asset.
