A career as an Intern – Sustainable Finance (ESG) within the Commercial Sustainable Finance team at National Bank means supporting the Corporate Sustainable Finance team in its day-to-day and strategic activities related to sustainable finance products offered to commercial clients.

In this role, you will work closely with ESG subject-matter experts and commercial teams on concrete, diverse and high–value-added mandates, while actively contributing to the integration of environmental, social and governance (ESG) considerations at the core of business decision-making, and developing in-demand expertise recognized in the market.

Your role:

Sustainable finance and processes

Support the team in the certification of green loans and other sustainable finance products
Contribute to quality assurance and documentation of sustainable finance loan files
Assist in the preparation and delivery of training for the sales force

Knowledge and tools management

Participate in the management, updating, and continuous improvement of the team’s SharePoint, as well as reference tools and documentation

Research and strategic monitoring

Conduct ESG market and sector monitoring and analyze trends, particularly in real estate, agriculture, and transportation, as well as social issues and emerging themes (climate change, Sustainable Development Goals, biodiversity, emerging markets, impact investing, etc.)
Contribute to analyses, summaries, and deliverables related to regulatory developments, subsidies, and ESG trends
Provide ad hoc support to the commercial client advisory process for learning and exposure purposes
Support the team with logistical tasks (email communications, call scheduling, document translation, meeting note-taking, etc.)

Your team:

Within the Commercial sector, you will be part of a team of three and report to the Director, Sustainable Finance. Our team stands out for its expertise in sustainable finance and ESG, the development and governance of sustainable financing products, as well as its support to the sales force in serving a diverse commercial client base across multiple industries.

Prerequisites:

Strong interest in ESG and sustainable finance topics
Bachelor’s degree or graduate studies in progress or completed in a relevant field (business administration, economics, finance, sustainable development, law, or a related discipline)
Strong analytical, synthesis, and writing skills, and excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office tools (Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint)
Ability to work effectively in a complex and fast-paced environment
Strong work ethic, rigor, curiosity, and team spirit

Languages:

English, French

Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
