A career as an Associate or Associate Director (depending on experience) in the Structured Solutions Group at National Bank means acting as a structured product expert to serve our Canadian clientele, primarily investment advisors and portfolio managers. This role allows you to make a positive impact on our organization by leveraging your knowledge of investment products and your commitment to delivering high-quality client service.

Structured products are customized investment solutions designed to adapt to evolving market conditions while meeting investors' specific views and risk tolerances. The selected candidate will work closely with the Canadian Sales team, trading, product management, legal and other stakeholders, to optimize the sales process and product offering, ultimately enhancing the client experience.

Due to the tactical nature of our offering, the wide range and volume of products, and the many processes involved, this role requires strong attention to detail and a keen sense of curiosity to ensure operational efficiency and quality.

 

Your job:

  • Develop an in-depth knowledge and comprehension of the different structures and underlying assets offered to clients while staying ahead of market trends and competitive landscape.
  • Actively contribute to the decision-making process, ensure coordination, and manage all administrative tasks essential to the launch of new structured product issuances.
  • Manage the production and analysis of sales reports and improve tools for identifying trading opportunities and market trends.
  • Serve as a key resource for the sales team by creating and maintaining various presentations up to date, and by providing both quantitative and qualitative analyses.
  • Support the business development initiatives, marketing, and sales efforts for various products, including market-linked GICs within the branch network.
  • Act as a back-up resource for inbound calls, to respond to general inquiries and assist with calls on the 1-800 line.
  • Provide ad hoc support for various business needs.

 

Your team:

As part of the Structured Solutions Group, you will be joining a team of 17 colleagues and reporting to the two co-heads of the Sales Support and Product Management team. Our team stands out for its dynamism, its ability to design and distribute a large volume of innovative, high-performing products tailored to various market conditions, while combining technical expertise with an in-depth understanding of clients’ needs.

The Structured Solutions Group, along with other teams involved in structured products, operates on-site at National Bank’s trading floor in Montreal. This environment promotes collaboration and provides direct access to colleagues with diverse expertise and backgrounds, enhancing both your professional and personal growth.

 

Competencies required:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related industry and four years of relevant experience, or a completed Master's degree in a related industry and two years of relevant experience
  • Good knowledge of financial markets
  • Good knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite
  • Experience in the investment industry
  • Good knowledge of Salesforce (CRM) and Bloomberg
  • Good knowledge of programming languages (Python, VBA, etc.) and database software’s
  • CFA designation (completed or in progress)

English, French
