A career as a Legal Advisor in the Transactions and Specialized Products team within Capital Markets at National Bank means acting as a specialist supporting the structured products sector while ensuring business practices comply with Canadian regulations.

In this role, you will directly contribute to the development and commercialization of complex financial products while ensuring rigorous management of legal and regulatory risks. Your expertise in securities law, analytical mindset, and attention to detail will have a tangible impact on the quality and integrity of the organization’s business practices.

Your role
  • Participate in all stages of structured products development and commercialization
  • Draft and review prospectuses and coordinate internal and external stakeholders, particularly in tax and accounting
  • Provide legal opinions to inform and support business decisions
  • Ensure business practices comply with Canadian securities regulations
  • Analyze and review various reports and legal documents to protect the Bank’s interests
  • Formulate recommendations regarding product development and commercialization to effectively manage risks for the Bank and its subsidiaries
Your team
Within the Transactions and Specialized Products sector, you will be part of a team of lawyers and technicians and report to the Managing Director, Transactions and Specialized Products. Our team stands out for its efficiency, availability, expertise, creativity, and dynamism. We collaborate closely on a daily basis with financial engineers involved in designing financial products.

Prerequisites
  • Bachelor’s degree in Law and member of the Quebec Bar with 1 to 3 years of relevant experience
  • Demonstrated experience in corporate law and securities law, including drafting legal documentation
  • Strong knowledge of the Canadian regulatory framework applicable to capital markets
  • Understanding of financial products and capital markets, with a strong interest in the field
  • Experience analyzing and reviewing legal and commercial documents
Languages:
English, French
