A career as Legal Advisor in the Regulatory Compliance team at National Bank means acting as an expert. This job allows you to have a positive impact in our organization through your expertise in regulatory compliance and your strong interest in wealth management.


The Regulatory Compliance team is responsible for the legislative and regulatory watch, participates in the implementation of various legislative, regulatory and business projects and answers questions from various compliance stakeholders and business lines.

Your job

  • Maintain the regulatory obligations and controls library as well as the compliance guide
  • Write and/or revise the Compliance Department’s policies, procedures and communications and participate in the drafting of various reports, including quarterly reports
  • Participate in the creation of training related to regulatory changes or aimed at strengthening knowledge of existing rules and policies
  • Perform various compliance and monitoring functions related to portfolio management for an American clientele (NatWealth)
  • Assist the various business lines in the interpretation and implementation of regulatory requirements and business projects
  • Capture and analyze new Bills and new regulations in order to inform the parties concerned of upcoming changes, while supporting them in the implementation of these changes
  • Participate in the various Wealth Management and pan-bank legislative and regulatory watch committees
  • Collaborate with other team members
Your team
Within the Compliance, Wealth Management sector, you are part of a team of 5 colleagues and report to the Senior Director, Regulatory Compliance. Joining our team means growing in a dynamic, evolving context where the work is stimulating and diverse.

Prerequisite

  • Legal technique or bachelor’s degree in law and 4 to 6 years of experience in the regulatory field related to the securities sector
  • Autonomy, initiative and strong desire to learn
  • Strong analytical and writing skills
  • Ability to work in a team, communication skills and attention to detail
  • Ability to work on several projects in parallel
  • Ability to write and communicate orally and in writing in French and English
  • Canadian Securities Course (CSC) (an asset)
  • Conduct and Practices Handbook Course (CPH)  OR will be required to be completed following hiring

Reason to require this language: you will need to work closely with our colleagues outside Quebec.
