National Bank Financial Markets remains committed to inclusion, diversity, and equity. To support these commitments, the Financial Markets Diversity Scholarship program aims to identidy, engage and develop exceptionnal students who demonstrate a genuine interest in Financial Markets.

Our program is designed for students who wish to pursue a career in the financial markets sector and meet the following criteria:

  • You are an Undergraduate or Masters program student enrolled full-time at a Canadian university
  • You identify with one or more of the following diversity groups: women, visible minority, Indigenous peoples, LGBTQ2+ community or person with a disability
  • You have a strong academic record with relevant extra-curricular participation
  • You have a genuine interest in pursuing a career in capital markets upon graduation
  • You are legally eligible to work in Canada.
  • Bilingualism is an asset (French required for internships in Montreal)

Recipients of the 2024 Financial Markets Diversity Scholarship program

Being part of the Financial Markets Diversity Scholarship program means : 
Obtain a $10 000 scholarship
Receive mentorship with financial markets professionals
Gain hands-on work experience
The internship will take place, depending on your skills and interests, in one of the following teams:

Corporate and Investment Banking

  • Corporate Banking and Loan Structuring & Syndication teams collaborate to offer loan origination, as well as structuring and syndication solutions to large corporations for project financings, merger and acquisition transactions, and corporate financings. 

  • Investment Banking services include strategic advisory services related to financing and mergers and acquisitions.

  • Our Sustainable Finance team is dedicated to helping our clients design effective sustainability solutions through an integrated offering that ranges from IPO and M&A advisory serves to structuring and management of product innovation in sustainable finance.

  • The Equity Capital Markets group acts as intermediary between market investors and equity or equity linked issuers by structuring and executing such issues.

Sales and Trading

  • Positions are available, but are not limited, to our product expert teams that cover Equities, Fixed Income, Currencies & Commodities as well as our Equity Research and Economy & Strategy teams.

  • Responsibilities may include supporting sales, trading, and market-making operations, database maintenance and quality control, various market and strategy analyses, and monitoring financial market activity.
* You will be able to indicate your preferred team for the internship during your registration.

Procedure and process

Registrations are open from January 20 to January 31, 2025, until 11:59 PM ET

What you need to send us :

For your application to be considered, you must send us all of the following documents:

  • A cover letter detailing your motivation for pursuing a career related to financial markets, and detailing what inclusion, diversity and equity means to you 
  • A résumé 
  • Copy of your transcripts to date
